Grammar: Could

Chúng ta sử dụng “could” để nói về các khả năng trong quá khứ

• Khẳng định: I/you/she/he/it/we/they + could + base form ( động từ nguyên thể)
  Ví dụ: She could swim at the age of 17 (Cô ấy đã biết bới từ năm 17 tuổi)
• Phủ định: I/you/she/he/it/we/they + could not/ couldn’t+ base form
  Ví dụ: He couldn’t read until he was 16 (Anh ấy không thể đọc cho đến tận năm 16 tuổi)
• Nghi vấn: Could + I/you/she/he/it/we/they + base form?
  Ví dụ: Could you ride a bike when you were in year 5 (Bạn đã có thể đi xe đạp vào lúc 5 tuổi không?)
• Câu trả lời ngắn:
  Yes, I/you/she/he/it/we/they + could.
  No, I/you/she/he/it/we/they + couldn’t.

3. Put the words in the correct order.

(Sắp xếp các từ theo trật tự đúng để hoàn thành các câu sau.)

1. could/do sums/Mary/at the age of 7/.
2. read and write/you/Could/when you were 6/?

4. Work in pairs. Read the information about the famous robot Ongaku. Ask and answer questions about what it could/couldn't do two years ago.

(Làm việc theo cặp. Đọc thông tin về người máy nổi tiếng Ongaku. Hỏi và trả lời những câu hỏi vể việc nó có thể (could)/ không thể làm gì (couldn’t) cách đây hai năm.)

5. Write three things you could do and three things you couldn't do when you were in primary school. Share your sentences with your partner.
